Hi, I'm Lindsay (she/her)

I believe that it is through relationships that we come to know and value ourselves, and I emphasize the therapeutic relationship as a foundation for healing, growth, and change. You can expect me to be authentic, genuine, and respectful, as I come to understand the nuances of your experience. I hope to emphasize your strengths, values, and inner wisdom to facilitate clarity, growth, and change.

I have supported individuals with a variety of concerns, backgrounds, and circumstances in post-secondary, medical, community, and private practice settings. I welcome diversity and take care to approach this healing work with cultural responsiveness. My approach is driven by your needs, is informed by mental health research, and draws from humanistic, narrative, constructivist, solution-focused, and emotion-focused frameworks. I welcome any questions you have about my background or about my approach to counselling.

I am a registered psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists who has completed Masters-level education in counselling psychology. I am also a member of the Psychologists' Association of Alberta. I am a published author and a lifelong learner.

Aside from counselling, I enjoy connecting with family and friends, spending time outside, witnessing my little ones grow and develop, taking pilates classes, and sipping cups of tea. I welcome the opportunity to get to know you.

What To Expect

Deciding to begin counselling with a psychologist is an important decision. For some people, beginning therapy can be a relief. For others, it may be uncomfortable to open up to someone new. We all experience occasional difficulties navigating life’s challenges, and there can be times we feel especially stuck and discouraged, and we need some extra support. Counselling is an opportunity to talk about concerns in a respectful, confidential, and professional setting.

Considering counselling shows that you have the courage and awareness to recognize you may need some additional help. You are taking responsibility by accepting where you’re at and by exploring options to support you in meeting life’s challenges. Should you decide to engage in counselling, the growth and change you experience will depend on how you use the counselling process and bridge counselling conversations into your life.

Because each person is unique, with different concerns and goals for counselling, the experience will vary depending on the individual. I will support you in sharing your concerns and how these concerns are affecting you. This may include discussing the personal history that is relevant to your concern. Not only does this help me understand what you are experiencing, but it can also be helpful to you in gaining insight into your situation. I then work with you to minimize the influence of the problem in your life. Change can be difficult, so the speed at which change takes place will be up to you.

With respect to those who came before me, I acknowledge that I live and share in the social responsibilities of the traditional lands of the Blackfoot Confederacy including the Siksika, Kainai, Piikani First Nations; the Stoney-Nakoda, including the Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations; the Tsuut'ina First Nation; the Metis Nation of Alberta (Districts 5 and 6); and everyone who makes their home in Calgary, a site traditionally known as Moh’kins’tsis to the Blackfoot, Wîchîspa to the Stoney Nakoda, and Guts’ists’i to the Tsuut’ina. May we work together to preserve the land that sustains us and create unity by respecting the past, celebrating diversity, and moving forward in reconciliation.
